.In a time when all our lives are filled with such uncertainty, with big wedding plans postponed or cancelled and with no clear route back to ‘normality’, we thought we’d share some info about elopements and micro weddings in Scotland; why we love them and why you might too!

A micro/wee wedding or elopement may not have been what you originally imagined your wedding day to be. But hey, it’s fine! We want to show how AMAZING your wee wedding could be – and remember, you can still have the big crazy party when it’s safe to do so!

What is a micro wedding?

To us, a micro wedding is typically a wedding with less than 20 guests. You’ll no doubt have read about them LOADS in recent months, but the truth is they’ve been around forever and have always been among our favourite kinds of wedding photography.

Where can we have our micro wedding?

ANYWHERE! Our absolute FAVOURITE thing about elopements, wee weddings or micro weddings in Scotland is that you can get legally hitched anywhere. From the highlands and islands, to beaches and mountains, our little country is full of some of the most beautiful spots on Earth; all you’d need to get married at one of them is a celebrant and a couple of witnesses (quite often that’s us!)

It doesn’t have to be wild and adventurous! You could pop a PapaKata tipi in your back garden, gather a few of your faves and get married there! Or have an urban micro wedding; simply pick your favourite spot for a ceremony, go for a wander and end up in your favourite pub or restaurant. The possibilities are pretty much endless!

How do we find suppliers for this kind of thing?

There are so many incredible wedding suppliers in Scotland who could help create the micro wedding of your dreams! We’d recommend checking out The Wedding Collective. A directory of the absolute best Scotland has to offer. You’ll also find some of our favourite florists, celebrants and venues etc. dotted throughout the galleries on our website.

If your brain is too fried to plan anything right now(!) then we heartily recommend reaching out to someone like Platter & Pop. These two ladies are planning and styling geniuses who create absolute magic. They specialise in smaller weddings and celebrations and we can’t recommend them enough.

Tell us more, why do you like them so much?!

One thing we love about a micro wedding or elopement is seeing a couple truly living in the moment. For some, the hectic nature of a big wedding day is so overwhelming that it’s hard to be open with your emotions. It’s totally fine to belly laugh or ugly cry! The beauty of an intimate ceremony is that you have time and space to breathe, to focus on each other, on what you say and how you feel.

The limited numbers mean that everyone in attendance is someone you really want to be there. Your wedding guests will all be VIPs, your nearest and dearest – and this always makes for a special, intimate atmosphere.

How much does micro wedding photography cost?

Your wedding photographs should transport you back to that day and allow friends and family to feel like they were right there with you. That’s why we love to tell the full story of your day. With so many possibilities for micro weddings, please get in touch to tell us about your plans for a tailored quote!

We’ve also introduced an hourly rate of £300 (minimum 2 hours.) This gives you the flexibility to choose the exact kind of coverage you’d like.
