It’s always a joy to capture an Isle of Skye elopement. What was already our favourite place to capture elopements and wee weddings took on a whole new layer of significance after we had our own wee wedding there back in the summer of 2018. So any time we’re able to help a couple plan an Isle of Skye elopement adventure we get very excited!

Taylor + Eric travelled from Texas to the Misty Isle in October, our favourite time of the year to visit… I’ve probably written this on every Autumnal blog post on our website, but it’s true! We joined them at their cottage in the shadow of the Old Man of Storr. Inside there was such a chilled atmosphere as they helped each other get ready. It’s not often grooms help style their bride’s hair like Eric did, but we’d love if that became a thing. We hit the road and headed north, stopping to grab a few miniature bottles of whisky en route. You can’t get married on Skye without a nip of whisky during your ceremony.

They chose a secluded area of the Fairy Glen for the ceremony, which was conducted by the wonderful Halde Pottinger. We listened to their story as they belly laughed and smiled all the way through to becoming husband and wife. Afterwards we spent some time wading deep into the ferns and scaling Castle Ewen, before visiting the Quiraing. Taylor + Eric shared their first dance there, a landscape you never tire of.

We ended our day together by the sea. As the light began to fade, and with the waves crashing into shore, Taylor + Eric shared some tender moments together. It was at this point we said our goodbyes and began dreaming of our next trip to this magical place.
