I’m pretty sure we’ve written this countless times on our blog and across social media platforms over the years, but there is just ‘something’ special about Crear. It is one of the most remote wedding venues in Scotland, perched way out west on the coast of Argyll and Bute. On a clear day you can see for miles, far beyond the Paps of Jura that rise up majestically from the sea, but even on a mistier, moodier day (like this one) it has an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the country.

Lisa and Chris’ Crear wedding was easily one of our highlights of 2018. Their day had everything that you hope for in a wedding. It was mega-romantic, fun, relaxed, a little bit wild, filled with laughter and happy tears, had amazing food… and there was a lovely wee dog whose hair Martyna braided while we were having a break.

As soon as we arrived that morning we could tell this was going to be something special. From the sweet moments exchanging gifts during bridal prep to an impromptu (but very tastefully done) topless photoshoot with the boys – the tone for the day had been set!

It was easy to see how loved these two are, with guests crossing land and sea to this faraway place to celebrate with them. Lisa and Chris’ kindness and warmth is so obvious too, with lots of family and friends included in the ceremony and throughout the day’s events. The ceremony was a cracker, and was held in the dreamy, minimalist interior of Crear and was performed by one of our favourite Humanist celebrants, Annie Loughlin – the loveliest lady you’ll ever meet.

As soon as the ceremony was finished, it was time for the ‘wild’ side of the day to appear… Lisa quickly changed into a pair of Converse – which by the way looked perfect with her stunning Daughters of Simone dress – and loaded her brand new husband (and us) into a Landrover Defender and headed for the beach. We wandered along the sand together, with the sun reflecting from the water bathing the newlyweds in an almost silvery, Spring light. We could’ve stayed out photographing this stylish pair for hours, but after stealing a few more minutes with them, we jogged back to the Landrover and made our way back to Crear for the fun to really begin.

The rest of the day was filled with more memorable moments, including Lisa and Chris opting not to cut their cake, but instead to share it with two birthday-girl guests; some brilliant, poignant speeches, catching up with the boys as they disappeared for a celebratory cigar, and of course one of the wildest dancefloors we’ve ever seen.

We hope you enjoy this wedding story as much as we enjoyed putting it together… even though it was almost impossible to keep it to the maximum 250 images! A massive THANK YOU to Lisa and Chris for letting us be a tiny part of this amazing day. We’ll never forget it.
