The 25th of September. A date we’ll always remember. That may sound like the start of an Earth, Wind and Fire song, but it was also on this date in 2016 that we joined Lyndsey + Matt on their 15th wedding anniversary, as they renewed their vows on the Isle of Skye.

Having spent almost a year chatting and planning via email from across the pond, we met these two for dinner the night before their vow renewal. A chance to finally put faces to the lovely personalities we’d got to know pretty well over the past 12 months! It was clear from the moment we met that these were two special people, and it felt like hanging out with friends that we’d known forever.

Over the course of the evening, we learned a lot about Lyndsey, Matt, their two beautiful daughters back home in Tennessee and their story over the last 15 years.

When we arrived at their B&B (the beautiful Rowan Tree Cottage) the following morning, the notoriously unpredictable Skye weather had kiboshed plans for a ceremony at the Fairy Glen… so instead the ceremony would take place in the living room of the B&B, with its stunning views over Portree. This was especially poignant as the two were married in Matt’s family living room in a tiny ceremony 15 years earlier.

The ceremony itself was one of the most moving we’ve ever witnessed. With Sonja Eckl-Riel at her inspiring best and Lyndsey and Matt speaking with such passion and love, it was absolutely unreal. Happy tears all round.

After the ceremony, the weather cleared up and we jumped in the car for a road-trip around the island. We could’ve spent a lifetime capturing the incredible connection of these two sweet souls as we adventured round some of our favourite and some lesser-known spots on Skye. Rather than go on and on about how amazing a day it was, we’ll just let the photos speak for themselves!

Magical things can happen on this crazy island. On this occasion we met two friends for life, who we are super excited to see at our own wedding next year.

Lyndsey + Matt, we love you! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
